Our Cause
The Blackfoot Fund, Inc. is a non-profit organization, registered in Maryland founded by Chris and Becky Santiago. Our mission is to raise funds to benefit severely wounded Veterans of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom, and to donate all proceeds to 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations that seek to help Wounded Warriors.

The idea originated through Chris' Mom, Terri, who wanted to give back to those that had given so much for our Country. Terri's idea centered on the creation of a cook book, Servings of Love, and using proceeds to make donations to benefit Wounded Warriors. She began to compile recipes, soliciting both family and friends, until the number reached well over 700! Though the book was only recently published, Terri has sold over 2000 copies, raising over $20,000 in charitable donations.
In 2011, Chris and Becky were invited to Boston, to attend the Homes For Our Troops Veterans' Conference, as potential recipients. Homes For Our Troops is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that builds specially adapted homes for severely injured veterans of OIF and OEF- at no cost to the veteran! Witnessing firsthand the remarkable caring, kindness and generosity displayed by those involved with HFOT, Chris and Becky were inspired to give back, become more involved, and “pay it forward”.
A wounded veteran himself, having lost both legs, Chris has experienced the care and support of organizations such as Operation Second Chance and The Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, and the gifts that they bestow. In the past, he has made charitable donations to such organizations that benefit wounded veterans, but now wants to give back in a more meaningful way.

This is why all funds raised by The Blackfoot Fund, Inc. will be exclusively donated to organizations that benefit Wounded Warriors, such as the ones mentioned above. All proceeds from Terri's Servings of Love Cook Book will exclusively donated to Homes For Our Troops. For more information about our fundraising for Homes For Our Troops, click here.
